Using the Web Converter (Step by Step)

1

Open the App

Visit videotoslides.com/app in Chrome or Edge. No download or installation needed โ€” it runs entirely in your browser.

๐Ÿ’ก System requirements: Chrome 90+, Edge 90+, or Firefox 97+. Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
2

Select Your Video

Drag your video file onto the drop zone, or click to browse. Supports MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM and most other formats. Any file size works โ€” even 1 GB+ videos.

A progress bar shows you exactly how far along the file reading is, with a time estimate. Your video never leaves your device.

3

Preview & Trim

A live canvas preview appears. Drag the scrubber to jump to any frame. To convert only a portion of the video, scrub to your desired start point and click Set here, then do the same for End.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The slide count and estimated output duration update live as you adjust trim points and speed.
4

Set Slide Duration

Use the slider to choose how many seconds each slide displays โ€” from 1 to 30 seconds. 3 seconds is a great starting point for most content.

5

Add Watermark (Optional)

Type any text to stamp on every slide. Customize position (TL/TR/BL/BR/Center), color, opacity, and size. The live preview shows exactly how it will look.

6

Choose Quality & Convert

Select quality (Balanced is recommended for most uses), then click Convert to Slideshow Video. The progress bar shows percentage complete and estimated time remaining.

โฑ Processing time: The converter encodes in real time to preserve audio sync. A 20-slide video at 3 seconds per slide takes about 60 seconds. The ETA counter tracks this accurately.
7

Download Your Slideshow

When complete, preview your slideshow right in the app. Click Download Slide to save the file as yourfilename_slide.mp4.

The Chrome extension by Aron Dirnfeld works directly on YouTube and Google Drive without any conversion needed:

  2. Double-click the file to open in Chrome or Edge
  3. Click the folder icon to open any video file from your device

Frequently Asked Questions

Is everything really free?

Yes. All three tools are completely free with no hidden fees, subscriptions, or premium tiers.

Does my video get uploaded?

Never. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your videos stay on your device at all times.

Why does encoding take so long?

The converter encodes in real time to keep audio perfectly in sync with each slide. The ETA counter gives you an accurate estimate.

The output is .webm โ€” is that a problem?

The file downloads as .mp4 but uses the WebM container internally. It plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and VLC. For true MP4 conversion, run it through HandBrake (free).
